Craig Draheim

ABOUT
ABOUT ME
Born in rural Northern Michigan, Craig was raised as a “video store kid,” which led to his love of the medium, especially the direct-to-video movies of the 80s and 90s. After graduating high school, he spent his undergrad in the Ann Arbor/Detroit area, followed by a 5-year stint in Los Angeles, working as a comedian projectionist with the world-famous Chinese Theatre. Currently Craig resides in Ann Arbor with his wife, two daughters, and three-legged dog (named after a Marx Brother).
WHAT I'VE DONE
Craig earned recognition in undergrad when Eastern Michigan University's Theatre Department created an award based on his hard work and dedication. During that same time his award-winning entertainment company, Sad Tire Theatre gained statewide success.

While in LA, Craig became a member of National Lampoon’s Lemmings, graduated from the Second City Training Center Conservatory, worked closely with the Pack Theater, and completed Clu Gulager’s Film Acting Workshop. In 2018, Craig received his MFA in screenwriting with the David Lynch Graduate School of Cinematic Arts (specializing in comedy & horror).

After his MFA, Craig returned to Michigan for freelance production, writing, comedy, and academic work. He obtained his second Masters (2023) in Interpretation & Performance Studies, where he explored offensiveness in the arts, specifically live comedy. His study garnered interest at the International Society for Humor Studies Conference (2023) for establishing the Research Comedian concept. Craig's three-year project is resulting in his comedy special, I'm the Joke, which opens in May (2024).
WHAT I DO
Craig has been credited with a distinctive artistic voice by peers, mentors, and reviewers through his fearless commitment, strong characters and dialogue, unique genre-blending, and vivid surrealistic worlds. Veteran screenwriter, Neal Marshall Stevens explained Craig's style as, “he creates grounded characters in a surreal world.” Famed actor, Clu Gulager stated in his opinion, "Craig has the potential to become one of America's leading storytellers."
